The UAE’s vibrant festival scene has become a focal point of the winter tourism season, showcasing an array of diverse and enriching events that have drawn large crowds of both local and international visitors. These celebrations have reinforced their role as pivotal contributors to the nation’s flourishing tourism industry.

Since mid-October, numerous festivals have emerged as sought-after destinations for those seeking knowledge, culture, entertainment, and shopping, as well as enthusiasts of heritage and sports activities. These events act as cultural bridges, fostering connections among different cultures and civilizations.

The 2024-2025 Sheikh Zayed Festival shines as one of the UAE’s largest cultural, entertainment, and heritage gatherings. This year’s edition boasts enhanced designs, innovative activities, and weekly themed events, creating a rich and immersive experience for visitors. Running until 28th February, the festival features over 6,000 global cultural activities, 1,000 large-scale public performances, and participation from more than 30,000 exhibitors. It has drawn participants from 27 countries, some for the first time, who showcase their traditions in dedicated pavilions. Highlights include the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Racing Festival, the Sheikh Zayed Falconry Championship, and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Prize for Camel Racing, along with traditional cuisine competitions.

The Mother of the Nation (MOTN) Festival, held across Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra, and Al Ain, concluded its 8th edition on 31st December 2024. The festival welcomed over 259,000 visitors and offered more than 350 unique experiences catering to all age groups, further cementing its reputation as a leading cultural event.

Meanwhile, the Liwa International Festival 2025 captivated audiences with a thrilling 23-day lineup, cementing its status as a premier winter destination. Adventure seekers, camping enthusiasts, and fans of traditional sports and motor challenges flocked to Al Dhafra’s picturesque desert setting. The festival offered live music, fireworks, and a range of desert activities, making it a memorable experience.

The Hatta Winter initiative, running until 12th January, features 120 workshops, 14 diverse events, and four community-focused festivals: Hatta Cultural Nights, Hatta Honey Festival, Hatta Farming Festival, and Hatta x DSF. This initiative highlights the region’s cultural and agricultural heritage while delivering engaging entertainment.

The Global Village’s 29th season has enchanted visitors with over 40,000 entertainment shows, more than 200 rides and attractions, and 30 pavilions representing 90 cultures worldwide. Running until 11th May 2025, this season introduces new pavilions celebrating the cultures of Jordan, Iraq, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

The Dubai Shopping Festival is marking its 30th edition with an impressive lineup of exclusive deals, entertainment events, concerts, prize draws, and dazzling fireworks displays. Concluding on 14th January, this festival has solidified its reputation as a shopper’s paradise.

In Sharjah, the 4th Sharjah Events Festival, themed “Shining with Events,” attracted 30,000 visitors to Al Majaz Amphitheatre. Featuring 52 activities, including theatrical shows, games, contests, and carnival performances, the festival offered entertainment for all.

The Khorfakkan Marine Festival celebrated maritime heritage through cultural and entertainment activities, live shows, workshops, and exhibitions. Drawing 70,420 visitors over 10 days, it highlighted the region’s deep connection to its seafaring traditions.

These remarkable festivals continue to showcase the UAE as a leading winter tourism destination, seamlessly blending tradition, innovation, and world-class entertainment, elevating its global appeal.
